La Perla was founded in Bologna in 1954 by Ada Masotti, a master corsetière whose intimate understanding of the female form set the brand apart from its very first day. Ada named her creation after the jewel-lined boxes in which her handcrafted pieces were presented — each garment as precious as the treasure it contained. Bologna, a city renowned for its silk and textile heritage, provided the perfect foundation for a house dedicated to the highest standards of construction. Through the 1960s and 1970s La Perla expanded internationally, and by the 1980s it had become a byword for luxury lingerie the world over.
What Makes La Perla Exceptional
La Perla bras are distinguished by three signature techniques developed and perfected in-house: the plissé — tiny, impossibly precise pleats worked into the most delicate fabrics to create textural drama; the touch of Lycra woven into lace for extraordinary flexibility without sacrificing beauty; and the sculptured bra cup, engineered for wearability, support and an irreproachably elegant silhouette beneath even the most unforgiving clothing. Every piece passes through many pairs of hands in Bologna before leaving the atelier.

Agent Provocateur was born in a small shop on Broadwick Street in London’s Soho in 1994, founded by Joseph Corré — son of the great Vivienne Westwood and music icon Malcolm McLaren — and his then-wife Serena Rees. At the time, the luxury lingerie landscape in the UK was almost non-existent: Marks & Spencer or Ann Summers were the only real choices available. Agent Provocateur changed everything overnight. Their pink-and-black shopfront became a destination, their campaigns — featuring Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Kylie Minogue — became cultural events, and their lingerie became the new shorthand for confident, unapologetic feminine sexuality. As Creative Director Sarah Shotton later put it: “When Agent Provocateur opened in 1994 that was a big turning point for lingerie, because at the time there was nowhere like Agent Provocateur.”
What Makes Agent Provocateur Exceptional
Every Agent Provocateur bra is built on a philosophy of craftmanship-meets-provocation: the finest embroidered silks, delicate French laces and sumptuous satins are cut and assembled with extraordinary precision, always with the brand’s characteristic irreverence and playfulness at their heart. AP bras leave something to the imagination — but only just. Their signature gold AP hardware, satin bows and occasional crystal detailing have become among the most recognisable elements in luxury lingerie worldwide. Bra prices range from approximately £80 to over £400 for the most elaborate pieces.

Fleur of England was founded in Bristol in 2000 by Fleur Christacos, who grew up in Guildford, Surrey, and studied fashion marketing at the University of Northumbria before launching her brand originally as “Fleur T”. Raised on boys’ hand-me-downs and yearning for feminine, delicate clothing, she channelled that longing into a brand built entirely around the celebration of femininity. Today Fleur of England is available in 17 countries and more than 50 luxury department stores worldwide. All designs are hand-sketched by Fleur herself in Bristol. The brand has earned a Butterfly Mark from Positive Luxury for its commitment to sustainable slow fashion, using French eyelash lace from a Lyon family house established in 1936, and recycled tulle fabrics throughout its collections.
What Makes Fleur of England Exceptional
Fleur of England bras are among the most precisely fitted in luxury lingerie, ranging from A to G cups with a hand-fitted quality that borders on bespoke. Vogue called the collections “luxe lingerie, sinfully seductive.” The Telegraph noted, “some lingerie designers are a little more superior — Fleur is one of them.” Every bra is hand-sketched by Fleur herself, constructed in exclusively sourced French eyelash lace from Lyon, and finished with silk satin. The brand offers a complimentary VIP virtual bra fitting service. Designs span ouvert bras, balcony bras, triangle bras and deep plunge styles — a quietly comprehensive range for the most discerning woman.

The brand attracted immediate international attention and a devoted celebrity clientele, establishing itself in the most exclusive luxury boutiques and department stores globally. I.D. Sarrieri bras are constructed from the finest Chantilly lace, softest tulle and the highest quality embroidered materials — many pieces feature hand-applied Swarovski crystal detailing that blurs the line between lingerie and jewellery. History & Heritage
Founded in Paris in 1968 by Irène Leroux, Eres was born of a revolutionary idea: that swimwear and lingerie could be designed with the same architectural rigour as couture clothing. Leroux championed the early use of Lycra in luxury garments — then considered a technical fabric, not a fashion one — producing swimwear year-round and, crucially, creating separates so women could mix and match to achieve the fit suited to their individual proportions. The lingerie line grew from Eres’ celebrated swimwear, sharing the same DNA: iconic cuts, distinctive colourways, and high-tech materials assembled with a confident minimalist eye.
What Makes Eres Exceptional
The Eres bra is the choice of the sophisticated woman who has moved beyond decoration and is interested in the absolute perfection of form. Clean lines, body-conscious cuts and the finest technical fabrics come together in bras that sit flawlessly, move naturally and create a silhouette of quiet, unassailable elegance. Eres considers every detail — exclusive colours developed in-house, cuts engineered in harmony with the body’s natural movements. The result is lingerie that feels like the most luxurious version of a second skin.

History & Heritage
Simone Pérèle opened her lingerie atelier in Paris in 1948, trained as a corsetière and driven by a single transformative belief: “Women should never have to choose between being comfortable and feeling beautiful.” That founding philosophy — radical in the post-war era — became the brand’s guiding star and remains so today. A family business, Simone Pérèle has been managed by her children Catherine and Philippe Pérèle for decades. In 1960, the brand created the Sunray dart bra for enhanced contouring. In 1968 it introduced the Pétale — the world’s first truly “invisible” bra, constructed in sizes up to a C cup when that was considered technically impossible. Today Simone Pérèle sells three million pieces annually across 30 countries and has been the best-selling lingerie brand at Galeries Lafayette Paris since 1981.
What Makes Simone Pérèle Exceptional
Simone Pérèle bras are designed in France from fabrics sourced exclusively from the finest European lace and embroidery houses. They are defined by what the brand calls “elegance you can live in.” The landmark Andora 3D spacer bra — created in the early 2000s — became one of the most celebrated bra innovations of the modern era, delivering a flawless fit in sizes 30-40, B-G cups. Every Pérèle bra offers delicate, romantic embroidery and lace detail alongside a technical precision of construction that makes the fit feel almost bespoke. The brand never employs ambassadors from rival houses, and its focus remains entirely on the woman wearing the bra.

Famous Simone Pérèle Bra Wearers
- A favourite of discerning European women and Paris fashion insiders for over 75 years
- The best-selling lingerie brand at Galeries Lafayette Paris — the world’s most visited luxury department store — since 1981

- Awarded Best T-Shirt Bra and Best Fitting Bra by leading fashion publications internationally across multiple years
Iconic Simone Pérèle Bra Styles

- The Délice Full Cup Bra — a three-part cup design with embroidered tulle, cotton-lined cups for supreme comfort and eyelet trim straps. Elegant enough to seduce, practical enough for every day.
- The Comète Lace Bra — unlined French lace in a molded full-cup shape; engineered for larger cup sizes without sacrificing neckline or aesthetic beauty.
- The Caresse Seamless Bra — a masterpiece of invisible construction: lightweight, breathable, completely smooth under clothing and achingly beautiful up close.
- The Pétale Bra (1968) — the historic original “invisible” bra that changed the industry. Still in production; a living piece of lingerie history.

Chantelle is one of the oldest and most storied names in French lingerie, with roots stretching to 1876 when François Auguste Gamichon founded the company as a manufacturer of elastic knits. The Kretz family acquired the business in the early 1900s, and Maurice Kretz began manufacturing corsets from elastic fabrics in 1902 — a pioneering step. His son Jean refined the weaving methods and created “Kretz tulle,” an elastic fabric that became the foundation of everything Chantelle would build. The Chantelle brand name was formally established in 1949. In 1972, Chantelle introduced the “Défi” — the first molded, seamless bra in history. In 1983 they launched “Vertige,” a see-through plunge bra that caused a sensation. Today Chantelle operates nine factories and sells bras from A to I cup across more than 50 countries.
What Makes Chantelle Exceptional
Chantelle bras are still partly handmade in France using exclusive lace created for the brand alone — a rarity among luxury lingerie houses of any scale. Each material is extensively tested before production. The fit engineering is regarded as among the finest in the world, with proprietary Memory Foam and Spacer fabric cups that adapt to the wearer’s body temperature and shape. InStyle voted the Chantelle T-Shirt Bra “Best T-Shirt Bra” in 2023. Available from band 30 to 44, cups A to I, Chantelle is one of the most inclusive of all luxury bra brands without compromising on a single element of quality or design.

Aubade’s story begins in 1875 when Doctor Bernard, a Parisian corset specialist, founded a house dedicated to the most intimate aspects of women’s dress. Formally relaunched in 1958 by Claude Pasquier at a time when corsets and girdles still defined women’s lingerie, Aubade proceeded to quietly revolutionise the bra. They introduced the world’s first matching coloured bra and underwear sets — a concept so obvious in retrospect it is extraordinary it had never been done before. They created the first strapless bra. The first halter-neck bra. The first front-fastening bra — the legendary “Agrafe-Cœur.” And in the 1980s, Aubade created the first thong, which was quickly adapted into the G-string. Each Aubade bra takes approximately two years from concept to completion.
What Makes Aubade Exceptional
Aubade bras are among the most sensual in the world — deeply French in their philosophy of celebrating the woman wearing them. The brand releases multiple new collections each year, each defined by lush embroidery, Swiss-engineered lace and opulent guipure details that are Aubade’s unmistakable signature. Available from A to G cups (and H in some styles), recent seasons have brought beautifully engineered fuller-cup styles that sacrifice nothing in terms of neckline or aesthetic. Aubade bras are renowned for the extraordinary precision of their cut: they sit on the body with the assurance of a tailored garment.

Coco de Mer was founded in 2001 in Covent Garden, London, by Sam Roddick — daughter of Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop — with a radical and deeply considered philosophy: that lingerie should be a vehicle for female empowerment and sensual self-discovery rather than something designed for the male gaze. The brand grew from a small boutique into an internationally recognised luxury house and one of the most celebrated lingerie destinations in London. Coco de Mer stands apart for its unwavering commitment to the perspective of the wearer: every garment is created to make the woman feel empowered, celebrated and alive to her own desire.
What Makes Coco de Mer Exceptional
Coco de Mer bras combine sumptuous fabrics — the finest silks, delicate French lace, and rich velvets — with a design philosophy rooted entirely in female empowerment. The brand’s collections draw on a wide range of aesthetics, from the romantically classical to the daringly avant-garde, united by exceptional construction quality and the conviction that lingerie is as much about how it makes the wearer feel as how it makes her look.
