Baselworld 2018 Watch Review

You certainly can’t beat spending time at the Swiss city of Basel, during the Baseworld watch and jewellery show. For over 100 years Baselworld has been the annual global event for both watch brands and jewellery designers to reveal their latest editions and future designs. Whilst somewhat smaller this year with a significant drop in attendees due to the ever-changing environment for marketing luxury, we thought the show was great. Being smaller, still over 850 exhibitors, we were able to get round to both the watch royalty brands as well as the fabulous independent watchmakers.

Some of our favourites from the Baselworld stands and events shown below.

Terrific iconic men’s watch releases from the big guns with a new Omega Speedmaster, a stunning collaboration TAG Heuer Monaco Bamford and a wonderful new subtle version of Breitling’s Pilot watch, the Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44.

New spectacular ladies watches were out in force. Bulgari, Graff, Harry Winstone, IWC, Philippe Patek and Omega set the bar at Basel.

At the Rolex stand their fabulous staff took us through the new Rolex watch range. The new GMT Master 2018 got our attention.

We loved this platinum Rolex Daytona, unfortunately, did not have a spare £50k, however, the consensus this is going to be a terrific investment piece.

Some phenomenal watch releases this year. The winner for LuxSeeker from design, impact and technical perspectives was the fabulous Bulgari Diva Finisima Minute Repeater – the world’s thinnest wristwatch minute repeater movement.  This gorgeous ladies’ watch has an acute feminine design using one of the most extraordinary complicated movements on the market today.  The stunning dial is with Japanese urushi lacquer, sprinkled with gold dust
